MS Outlook 2010 is most advanced and widely used email client utility that is used for sending mails and managing Outlook data. No doubt it accomplishes the task without glitches. However, some users have complaint that they cannot open attachments in Outlook 2010 and face problem related to this issue. This is encountered when the Outlook blocks the access or opening of attachments when it considers it as potentially harmful or unsafe.
However it is possible to access the blocked email attachments by saving the attached document files on the server or FTP site. Try to download the document again by clicking the links. Moreover you can also compress the files so that its file extension changes and the file format is not categorized. Thus it does not gets blocked by the Outlook. However if these steps do not resolve the issue, you can even change the permission settings of the Outlook and customize the configuration for easy access to the attachments.
In some severe cases, PST corruption is also stated as the main reason due to which Outlook 2010 blocks the attachments. In such cases one can use Scanpst.exe, an inbuilt utility but it has certain limitations and cannot be used in every scenario. Thus, users can use third party PST repair tool to fix PST file corruption and resolve such issues.
