Hello Mike, Outlook component error is common with Outlook 2007 version. However, it can also occur in any other versions. It is mainly caused due to incorrect or faulty installation of outlook. Sometimes even missing of Olmapi32.dll file can severely affect the smooth running of outlook applications. If Outlook users install the updates incompletely, it can also result in similar error.
It can be a good idea to reinstall the application completely in order to resolve Outlook component error. You can also try changing the location of PST files or making new profile. However, you should backup the data in order to prevent data loss scenario. In your case, it was mentioned that Scanpst.exe was not of any help. In some cases, presence of more than one copy of Scanpst.exe can be an important cause for the failure. So, it is advised to try third party Outlook PST repair tool. If the following error is encountered due to PST corruption, it would repair any outlook PST file corruption.
